The Ohio Christian Trailblazers are looking forward to gearing up this spring and to continue their track and field season into outdoor. Looking back, the Blazers had a fantastic indoor season, with 3 record breaking performances, and countless personal bests for all athletes.
The men's and women's 4x800 relay teams accomplished high honors at the NCCAA Indoor Track National Championship, with both teams earning All-American Honors and placing third overall.
This feat also earned a school record for the women's 4x800 team, which consisted of
Abigail Kobs,
Paige Parker,
Impreza Rogers, and
Lexie Engstrom. The new record is now 10:07.09.
The mens All-American 4x800 relay team consisted of
Corry Mientkiewicz,
Payton Herron,
Jonah Kiess, and
Evan Caldwell, with a time of 8:13.88.
Evan Meisberger, a freshman from Williamsburg, Ohio, opened up his college career with fantastic performances in the 60-meter hurdles, ultimately breaking the school record with a time of 8.59 seconds. Evan qualified to the national meet in both the 60-meter hurdles as well as the 400-meter dash.
Elijah Newland, a senior from Marysville, Ohio, broke his previous record in pole vault, with a vault of 3.15m.
Paige Parker, a sophomore from Lancaster, OH, broke the school record in the indoor mile, as well as achieving a personal best, with a time of 5:25.03.
Paige Parker also qualified to the national meet in the mile, and the 5000m race.
Along with this record breaking season as a team, almost every individual on the team was able to achieve a personal best in their event once, if not multiple times throughout the season with a total of 20 lifetime and college person bests. As the Blazers prepare to continue this success in outdoor this spring, they already have their hearts set to continue to better themselves individually and as a team.
