The Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field teams competed this past weekend at the Muskie Meet, hosted by Muskingham University. Both teams had signs of strong competition and growth in their individual performances.
The womens team opened their success with two strong performances from
Impreza Rogers and
Abigail Kobs in the 3,000m race.
Abigail Kobs finished 2
nd overall with a finishing time of 11:20.29. Impreza was close behind her with a 3
rd place overall finish and a time of 11:22.93. Both of these athletes shattered the qualifying standard in this event to punch their ticket to the NCCAA National Championship.
Baily Chabot also had a strong performance in the 3000m race, finishing with a personal record of 10:07.15. This performance shows his strong growth in the event this season.
Evan Meisberger opened up in the 60m hurdles, with a time of 9.03s, finishing 9
th place and just barely missing qualifying for finals in the event. He was able to compete in his first collegiate 200m dash as well with a time of 23.68s and a 10
th place finish.
The mid-distance group had a good day of competition in the 800m dash.
Evan Caldwell finished 4
th with a time of 2:01.24 which qualified him for the NCCAA National Championship, along with
Lexie Engstrom who finished 6
th and qualified with a time of 2:30.20.
Payton Herron had an 800m personal record of 2:06.39, and
Jonah Kiess ran a college personal best with a time of 2:05.90.
The 5000m group closed out the day for the Trailblazers with
Paige Parker running a time of 19:05.07, which was well under the National Qualifying time of 20:30. This time currently places her 12
th in the NCCAA at this point in the season.
The Trailblazers will be competing at Cedarville University this Friday, January 31
st.
