WESTERVILLE, OH - The track and field team began the 2024 indoor track season with an impressive showing at the Otterbein Invitational, with three broken school records and six PBs. Senior
Evan Caldwell broke two records, the 500m dash and the 4x400m relay, in the team's first outing while junior
Lexie Engstrom broke her own 800m race record.
Caldwell got his first record of the day in the 500m dash, breaking his own record by one second with a time of 1:10.02.
The 4x400m relay team broke a seven-year-old school record with a time of 3:39.26. The team was made up of
Payton Herron,
Bryden Moxley,
Corry Mientkiewicz and Caldwell who ran the anchor leg and took the team from third to first place with a 53 second split. Herron also set a PB in the mile with a time of 4:40.32 and a 12th place finish out of 25 athletes.
Engstrom broke her record in the 800m race by four seconds with a time of 2:26.02 and a first-place finish. Freshmen
Paige Parker was right behind her with a four-second PB of 2:29.30.
Garrett Carver had a big 34-second PB in the 3,000m race with a time of 9:40.53.
Jason Springer came up with a three-second PB in the mile at 4:51.07.
The Trailblazers will look to keep the momentum going at the Muskie Meet at Muskingum University next Saturday, January 27th.
