Circleville, OH - Trailblazer athletes juggle many responsibilities including early practices, intense conditioning, evening weights and a taxing schedule with games on the road. Along with expectations to perform well, Trailblazers are called to impact the world as leaders. Over the past year, all teams participated in service outreach with over 60 community projects. Three teams in particular, Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball and Men's Soccer, served a minimum of 12 times each throughout the school year as they focused on looking beyond oneself in service to others.
Beth Arroyo, Head Coach of Women's Soccer shared, "I'm proud of the team. They have done exceptionally well in living out and being the Hands and Feet of Jesus. Being a student-athlete in today's environment is challenging, with the demands of work, school, practice, family and relationships. But the ladies prioritized and did everything with excellence. They managed to serve others with an open heart and mind, putting others first above themselves. They reach for the heart of others and it shows in their character and who they are as individuals- people that truly care about others and letting their light shine (Matthew 5:16). I have seen tremendous growth in this team and I am blessed to be a part of this program and be a part of their lives."
"I am so proud of the team's heart to love and serve others," said SWA and Head Coach of Volleyball,
Ally Coyle. "They show up to service projects ready to work hard and do it joyfully. They have already had an impact on so many different ministries and I'm excited to watch them continue to shine the light of Jesus on and off the court this year. In John 13:15, Jesus sets an example for us to follow. After washing His disciples' feet, He encourages us to follow His lead and serve one another. 'I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you,' Jesus says."
"As we look for ways to blaze the trail, OCU athletes are leading the way in their efforts to serve campus, community, and Christ," said Athletic Director
George Arroyo Jr. "As believers, we have a call to action: a call to love, spread the gospel, and serve. Our athletes did just that. While they may not see it now, the impact each athlete had in the community will last a lifetime. I'm proud of the coaches and athletes for their efforts this year!"
