Pensacola, FL - Ohio Christian University volleyball opened the NCCAA South Region Kickoff with a perfect 2-0 record on Friday, rallying past Pensacola Christian College in four sets before sweeping Trinity College of Jacksonville to close out the first day of competition.
The Trailblazers opened the day against host PCC, battling back after dropping the opening set 25-15 to earn a 3-1 victory. OCU responded with three consecutive set wins, taking the second set 25-17 before finishing the third set 28-26, and finalizing the win with a 25-18 fourth-set victory.
Kennedy Bowling led the Trailblazer offense with ten kills, while
Julia Orndorf added eight and
Hailey Sembach finished with six.
Sophie Coleman contributed 18 digs defensively, followed by
Emma Hannah with 14.
Emma Ferguson made her season debut, leading the Trailblazers with six blocks against the Falcons.
Kynedi Davis and Bowling each added four blocks as OCU dominated defensively in the match.
Hannah Skaggs led OCU with four service aces, out of the teams total of 12.
OCU returned to the court later in the day against Trinity College of Jacksonville, earning a dominant 3-0 sweep (25-6, 25-6, and 25-19).
Bowling once again led the Trailblazer attack with ten kills, while
Emily King ended with an impressive offensive performance, hitting .667 for the match and added five kills and four blocks.
Coleman ended the match with seven service aces, while Hannah recorded 15 assists.
With Friday's two victories, Ohio Christian improves to 6-4 on the season and look to secure two more weekend wins tomorrow. They will play Toccoa Falls College ar 11:00 AM ET and Bob Jones at 1:00 PM ET.
