Columbus, OH - Ohio Christian University men's soccer opened its 2026 season, falling 3-1 to Central Bible University.

The Trailblazers got off to a strong start, finding the back of the net just eight minute into the contest. Max Spencer, a freshman, scored the first goal of the 2026 season for Ohio Christian, with Eliel Kisoka providing the assist to give the Trailblazers an early 1-0 lead. This was Spencer's first collegiate goal. 

Central Bible responded with two goals in a short span halfway through the first half, giving the Saints a 2-1 advantage less than a minute later. 

Ohio Christian continued to create opportunities throughout the remainder of the match, finishing with eight total shots and six shots on goal. The Trailblazers also earned seven corner kicks, including five in the second half. 

David Spicer Jr. helped keep Ohio Christian within striking distance, recording six saves. 

Central Bible added an insurance goal in the 79th minute, giving the Saints a 3-1 lead. 

Despite the result, head Coach Ryan Walker saw plenty of positives from his young squad in the first game of the season. 

"We had a lot of good moments early on and showed some spurts where we were really able to connect and play the way we want to play. We're a young team with a lot of new players, so there's going to be a learning curve, but I'm really encouraged by what I saw today. Once we get rolling and continue to build that chemistry, I think there's a lot of positivity to look forward to with this group," Walker said.
