Trailblazers Go Undefeated at Memorial Tournament

Rio Grande, OH - The Ohio Christian University women's volleyball team captured the championship of the Annual Emileigh Jo Cooper Memorial Classic this past weekend, posting wins over Midway University, West Virginia Tech, University of Northwestern Ohio, and University of Rio Grande. 

The Blazers began the day strong with a win over Midway University where they where they ended the game with 38 kills and 36 digs. Julia Orndorf accounting for 11 kills and Aliah Snider with 20 assists. The Trailblazers also outscored Midway 25-6 in set 2. 

The second game on Friday was against WVU Tech, where defense dominated as Sophie Coleman ended the game with 14 digs and Kynedi Davis had 4 solo blocks, allowing the team to go into Saturday with 2 wins. 

On Saturday, the Blazers played University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) where they ended the game with 40 kills and 69 digs. Sophie Colemand once again dominated the game with 20 digs; the Racers ended the first set with only 4 kills. Aliah Snider ended the game with 25 assists. 

Saturday night ended with an incredible sweep over the University of Rio Grande. Sophie Coleman ended with 23 digs, while Josie Buck ended with 17. Not only did defense shine, but offense did as well. Lydia Watson had 9 kills, while Kennedy Bowling had 8, allowing the Blazers to come out on top and win the tournament. 

The Trailblazers hope to continue their winning streak when they travel to South Carolina next weekend to play in the NCCAA South Regional Volleyball tournament at Bob Jones University. Friday's game times are at 3:00pm and 5:00pm, while Saturday's games will be played at 12:00pm and 2:00pm.
