Trailblazers Continue to See Growth at Twilight Invitational

The Ohio Christian Track and Field teams competed this past weekend at Otterbein University's Twilight Invitational. The Trailblazers continued to add to their list of individuals qualified to the national meet in May, as well as their own personal bests in each individual event.

The day opened with FR. Evan Meisberger, back again in the 110-meter hurdles. Evan broke his own school record in this event with a time of 15.30, placing 9th overall in this event. This placed him at 9th in the National Rankings for this event. Evan also added to his experience with his first open 400-meter dash for the outdoor season. Meisberger ran a time of 50.82, which was a personal best and qualified him for the national championship meet.

SR. Lexie Engstrom was our next top performer, competing in the Alumni Mile along with SR. Jason Springer, and the 800-meter dash. Engstrom finished the mile with a time of 5:35.85, placing 7th overall. Springer also performed well in the Mile with a personal best time of 4:47.85.

SR. Evan Caldwell had a stand out day in the 800-meter dash, followed by SR. Corry Mientkiewicz. Caldwell ran a national qualifying time of 1:58.96, placing 12th out of 57 athletes. Mientkiewicz ran a personal best time of 2:02.70. Lexie Engstrom ran a time of 2:26.29 in the 800-meter, which qualified her to the National Championship meet.

FR. Kayden Vanhoose also had a personal best in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:04.70. SR. Elijah Newland also joined the sprints personal record list with a time of 26.10 in the 200-meter dash.

FR. Dawn Hibbard represented the throws squad well with a personal best in both discus and shotput, throwing 7.58m and 26.85 meters.

The night ended with the distance women competing in the 5000-meter race. SO. Paige Parker finished 6th overall with a time of 18:35.06. SO. Impreza Rogers finished 10th overall with a personal best of 19:13.39, which qualifies her for the National Championship meet. SO. Abigail Kobs also earned herself a national's qualification with a personal best time of 19:44.71.

The Trailblazers will be back again this weekend, April 26th, at the Ashland University Judd Logan Invitational.
