The Ohio Christian Track and Field team competed at Ohio Wesleyan University's annual Marv Frye Invitational on Saturday, April 5th. The team had a lot of overall solid performances, including 8 individuals finishing in the top ten within their events, and 2 athletes reaching the qualifying standards within their event.
SO. Abigail Kobs joined the national qualifying ranks for the women's 1500-meter race, finishing 12th with a time of 5:11.02. Not only did this qualify her to the national meet in this event, but also beat her previous lifetime best.
SO. Impreza Rogers also achieved a personal best in the 1500-meter race with a time of 5:18.34, just barely missing the qualifying standard of 5:15.
SR. Payton Herron placed 3rd overall in the 3000-meter Steeple Chase, with a season best time of 10:42.30.
FR. Evan Meisberger competed strongly in both hurdle events. In the 400-meter hurdles, Meisberger came in 4th place overall with a time of 58.18 seconds, breaking his already owned school record and personal best in the event. Meisberger also came in 3rd place in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.88 seconds. Meisberger is currently ranked 7th in the National Standings for the 110-meter hurdles, and 11th in the 400-meter hurdles.
SR. Lexie Engstrom finished in 3rd place in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:29.86, barely missing the qualifying standard in the event. SR. Jenna Ayer also competed well in the event, finishing with a personal best of 2:41.05.
SR. Evan Caldwell finished 6th overall in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:00.52, followed closely behind by FR. Jonah Kiess with a 9th place finish and a time of 2:02.97.
SR. Elijah Newland also had a personal best in pole vault, with a jump of 3.45 meters, again breaking his already owned school record.
To finish out the day, SO. Paige Parker came in 1st place in the 5,000-meter race with a national qualifying time of 18:45.13. SR, Jason Springer also competed well in the 5,000 meter race, finishing 3rd overall with a time of 16:28.75.
The Trailblazers return to competition this upcoming weekend at Otterbein University's Twilight Invitational on April 18th, 2025.
