LANSING, MI -- Women's soccer battled to the final whistle and grabbed another clean sheet on their way to victory over Great Lakes Christian College.
The first half was a stalemate until the final ten minutes when
Karissa Buttelwerth crossed the ball into the box and
Syerra Metzler needed only one touch to finish past the keeper. The second half proved to be a challenge for the Trailblazers as they were under pressure for much of the half. However, the Trailblazers continued their gritty defensive display to preserve the shutout and win. This marks the sixth clean sheet in a row and seventh total for women's soccer.
"When you go on the road against a quality side, you have to put in a performance," said Coach
Beth Arroyo. "The team fought hard. Most impressive was the resilience shown for 90 minutes. Of course we are happy with clean sheets. The whole squad is. These are the type of defensive performances we continue to build upon. On to the next game!"
The Trailblazers take on Indiana University Columbus next before traveling to Kentucky later in the week.
