TOCCOA FALLS, GA - This past weekend, the men's soccer team opened the season with a win on the road in Georgia.
The Trailblazers took the lead late into the first half when senior
Riley Dunham latched on to a ball from
Cameron Hickman, and buried it past the GK. The Screaming Eagles responded back minutes into the second half to square it up. Thirteen minutes later, freshman
Kamden Smith made a late run into the box to receive a ball from
Junior Acosta and fired it into the top of the net. Transfer
Mason Sims would seal the win late into the game after beating the GK to a 50/50 ball and touching it in.
"It's a really great way to start off the season," said first year head coach,
Ryan Walker. "The guys really saw the results of their hard work this off-season. I'm proud of the effort we put in and how we battled in the heat. We had some freshmen start for us and play some really great minutes, as well as our seniors step into some new positions this fall and play well. I think we are only growing and will continue to get better as the season progresses."
