RIO GRANDE, OH - The softball team nearly had a long-awaited win over the University of Rio Grande on Friday afternoon, but couldn't stop the Red Storm's comeback in game two. Rio took both games by scores of 3-1 and 8-6. The Trailblazers drop one spot in the RSC standings to sit at fourth in the East with a conference record of 11-15.
The Trailblazers took an early lead in both games but were unable to hold either. They went up 1-0 in the first inning of game one but were shutout for the remainder of the game.Â
In game two, two three-run innings weren't enough to hold off the Red Storm who came up with a six-run sixth inning on base hits to complete the comeback.Â
Emma Hastings hit a three-run homer in game two, her third of the season. She was 3-4 at the plate with a double, four RBIs and two runs on top of the home run.Â
Jobi Allen was also 3-4 in game two while
Chandler Hayes was 3-5.Â
The Trailblazers will look to bounce back at West Virginia Tech tomorrow, April 20th with the doubleheader set to start at 3 p.m.
