CLERMONT, FL - The softball team had a solid showing in Clermont, FL last week, going 2-4 in six games over three days. The Trailblazers came up with wins over Cabrini Unviersity (13-0) and Judson University (3-0) and fell to Mount Vernon Nazarene University (1-5), Spring Arbor University (0-2, 0-7) and Penn State Brandywine (1-2). The team sits at an overall record of 2-6 as they look to conference play.
In the 13-run shutout over Cabrini, the Trailblazers were led by
Emma Hastings with a double, two runs and two RBIs.
Hilarie Spitler and
Hannah Burton pitched the shutout, allowing just three hits in the five innings in 17 at bats.Â
Spitler pitched all seven innings of the 3-0 shutout over Judson University, allowing just three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts in 25 at bats.
Lexi King was 1-3 at the plate with two RBIs for the Trailblazers while Hastings came up with one run, a triple and one RBI.Â
So far this season,
Vanessa Metcalf is leading the Trailblazers, batting .400 in 20 at bats. She has eight hits, four runs and two RBIs so far this season.Â
The Trailblazers open conference play this weekend as they head to Alice Lloyd College on Friday and Shawnee State University on Saturday.
