SOFTBALL SWEPT BY SHAWNEE IN CONFERENCE OPENER

PORTSMOUTH, OH - The softball team was unable to top the undefeated Bears of Shawnee State University in their conference opener on Monday by scores of 1-0 and 2-1. 

The Trailblazers were only able to get one hit off in the shutout, but nearly had the shutout themselves as the defense only allowed one run. Hilarie Spitler pitched six strikeouts in 21 at bats. 

The Trailblazer offense picked up slightly in the second game and took a lead in the sixth inning before the Bears put in two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the win. 

Kylee Bako batted in the lone run for the Trailblazers and Kristin Gardner ran it in. 

The Trailblazers are home this weekend for two big conference doubleheaders. They take on the University of Rio Grande on Friday, March 15th at 1 p.m. and West Virginia Tech on Saturday, March 16th at 1 p.m.
