RIO GRANDE, OH - The women's basketball team fell to a dominant University of Rio Grande, currently ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, for the second time this season by a 103-88 scoreline.
The Trailblazers fought hard, cutting the lead to as few as seven in the second half but the Red Storm went on a 12-3 run to open the second quarter that Ohio Christian was never able to fully recover from.
The Trailblazers move to 18-6 and 9-4 in conference play with the loss.
Haley Cox went wild, putting up a new career-high of 43 points on 15-23 shooting with 20 points in the second quarter alone. She was 8-10 from the free throw line and added nine rebounds and three steals.
After just three points in the first half,
Ashley Deweese came up with 20 points and
Emma Koons had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Koons sits at third in the RSC in scoring with 18.4 points per game and fifth in rebounds per game with 8.3.Â
The Trailblazers continue their four-game road game stretch on Tuesday for a rematch of Wednesday's conference battle against West Virginia Tech at 5:30 p.m.Â
