HARRODSBURG, KY -- The Trailblazers faced the Pioneers at home a week ago winning 7-0. The showdown in Harrodsburg had less goals but the Trailblazers came out with the victory and another clean sheet.
The Pioneers defense made the Trailblazers work for the first goal. After a defensive mistake,
Karissa Buttelwerth crossed the ball to an open
Elizabeth Grooms who slid to put the ball into an empty net. This was the lone goal of the first half. The Trailblazers dominated in the second half and grabbed the second goal when
Syerra Metzler ran in behind the defense, and placed the ball side netting. The final goal of the match was scored by
Briston Terry. Terry dribbled into the box but was tackled resulting in a penalty kick. Terry powered the ball past the keeper. This marks a ten game unbeaten streak and ten consecutive clean sheets.
"Credit to the Pioneers" said Coach
Beth Arroyo. "They forced us to be patient in finding ways to break them down. We improved greatly in the second half and produced some great moments. Defensively, we were stretched a bit more, but the back line continues to stay strong."
The Trailblazers go into their final week with a trip back to Kentucky to play Kentucky Christian University followed by Senior Game on the weekend against Great Lakes Christian.
