CIRCLEVILLE, OH -- The Trailblazers took down the Pioneers in a home contest which saw a ninth consecutive clean sheet and another hat trick for the season.
Ohio Christian wasted little time in scoring when
Karissa Buttelwerth pounced on a rebounded shot inside the six yard box. A few minutes later Buttelwerth scored again by drilling a hard shot inside the near post. Buttelwerth continued her attacking threat this time providing a back heel assist to
Elizabeth Grooms who struck it upper 90. The final goal of the first half came when
Andrea Vasquez broke through the Pioneers defense and played a ball into the box to an unmarked Grooms. Grooms took one touch and despite the keeper getting a hand to it, the shot was much too powerful and hit the net. The Trailblazers continued their dominance in the second half. In the 60th minute, a buildup play in the attacking third involving passes from Grooms to Buttelwerth and finally to
Briston Terry paid off as Terry calmly slotted it past the keeper. Buttelwerth would complete the hat trick in the 65th minute before scoring a 4th goal in the 72nd.
"It's great to score goals and see a priority to keep clean sheets," said Head Coach
Beth Arroyo. "Clean sheets have been a theme we continue to discuss, as it's an important part of our DNA. We're getting into the final stretch of the regular season and the team remains locked in. I'm excited for the next few games as we prepare for post season play."
