VOLLEYBALL LOOKING TO CONTINUE TO GROW IN 2023

CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The 2023 volleyball season is up and running as the Trailblazers seek to build on the momentum they gained late in the 2022 season when they made it to the conference tournament.

Ohio Christian has a solid mix of returners and newcomers this season who have all made an impact early on this season, something head coach Ally Coyle expects to continue, especially from a few specific players.

"Madison Blickenstaff will be returning as a junior captain," Coyle said. "She was awarded 1st team all-conference and will continue to be a huge impact for our team physically on the court. Rylee Barr will bring phenomenal defense as a setter that will keep us in games. Cat Ferguson will continue to hold down the back row and bring energy and drive to the team. Freshman middle blocker Alexa Mader will be a huge to help to improve the team offensively and especially in blocking. Freshman Sophie Coleman will be able to step into a huge defensive role and help from the serving line."

The Trailblazers have their eye on getting to the conference tournament and going on a longer run than they did last year once they get there.

"We made it to the conference tournament by a thread last year and would like to be within top 6 of the conference this year. I would also like to reach the most wins in school history (12) since the school became NAIA," Coyle said.

The team is looking to their matchup with the University of Rio Grande, which last year made the difference in their making it to the conference tournament after a five-set thriller. The game takes place on Senior Night once again and will be a big game for the Trailblazers.

Coyle is looking forward to continuing to build a culture on and off the court that cultivates a positive impact for Christ. The team has been named the RSC Team of Character twice under Coyle in recognition of their consistent and intentional community service.

The Trailblazers were ranked 9th in the RSC Preseason Polls and currently sit in second place in the RSC East with a 3-2 record early in the season.
