MOUNT VERNON, OH - The women's basketball team followed up their historic win over Cedarville University with another performance that showed their insistance on winning. The Trailblazers pulled out a one-point win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University 65-64 to move to 7-2 on the season. The Trailblazers' only two losses have come against Top 25 teams.
Emma Koons secured the win for the Trailblazers by draining three free throws with ten seconds to go to extend the lead enough that the Cougars were unable to comeback. The lead changed five times and the Trailblazers never held a lead larger than 10 points.
Ashley DeWeese led the Trailblazers with a season-high 25 points on 11-24 shooting. Koons had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Haley Cox had 13 points and was nearly perfect from the free throw line, going 9-10. She also contributed nine rebounds.Â
The Trailblazers will look to carry this momentum back into conference play as they host Shawnee State University this Saturday at 1 p.m.
