CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The women's basketball team is still looking for their first conference win after falling by just four points to Shawnee State University this afternoon 77-73. The Bears never won a quarter by more than four points, but the Trailblazers were only able to take the lead one time. Ohio Christian is now 7-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
The Trailblazers made up a 13-point deficit in the final 30 seconds of the game, going on a 10-0 run led by
Haley Cox's four drained free throws and a triple. Ohio Christian got within two but were unable to close the gap completely.Â
Cox led the offensive effort for the Trailblazers with her fourth 35-point game of the season and fifth game with over 30 points. She still sits at second in the NAIA for points per game with 27.3. Cox also came up with six rebounds. four assists and two steals.
Emma Koons came up with yet another double-double with 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds as well as three assists.
Ashley DeWeese had 13 points of her own with five rebounds.Â
The Trailblazers struggled from deep against the Bears, going 7-29 from behind the arc. They were perfect from the line at 22-22 and shot 36.1% from the field at 22-61.Â
The Trailblazers have one last home game before the holilday break, as they host nonconference opponent Madonna University this Tuesday, December 19th at 5 p.m.
