CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The men's basketball team dropped a tight battle against Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Tuesday evening 87-82. The Trailblazers are now 3-6 as they head into conference play this Saturday.
Jimmy Salamone led the way for the Trailblazers offense with 25 points and eight rebounds.
Levi Seiler came up with a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds along with three assists and two steals.
Obie Bronston Jr. had a 12-point game while
Camden Primmer had 10 points and four rebounds.
The Trailblazers held an early lead until the Cougars tied it up at 11 and held a lead for the remainder of the half, going into the locker room up 46-39. Salamone came up with 12 points in the first half. Seiler and Bronston Jr. contributed nine points each.
The Trailblazers were struggling to control the ball, giving up ten turnovers in the first half and only forcing five from Mount Vernon.
The Cougars held a solid lead for the first ten minutes of the second half. The Trailblazers went on a 12-0 run to get within two at 69-67 and battled it out for the remaining eight minutes. They were within one with five minutes to play at 73-72 but were unable to complete the comeback and fell 87-82.
The Trailblazers open conference play this Saturday, December 2
nd when they host the University of Rio Grande. The rivalry is set to tip-off at 3 p.m.
