TRAILBLAZERS TOP WEST VIRGINIA TECH FOR BIG CONFERENCE WIN

CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The volleyball team came up with a gritty 3-1 win over West Virginia Tech by scores of 25-18, 16-25, 26-24 and 28-26. Tech currently sits at third in the River States Conference standings with a record of 11-6. The Trailblazers move to 12-17 and 7-10 in conference play where they sit at eighth place.

Sophie Coleman dominated on defense with a career-high 34 digs. 

On offense, Madison Blickenstaff led the way, tying her season-high 20 kills on a .217 hitting percentage. Brittlyn Call and Alexa Mader had nine kills and five blocks a piece. The team put up 20 blocks total. 

Rylee Barr had a double-double with 43 assists and 22 digs. 
 
The Trailblazers dominated early, holding as much as a nine-point lead for the entire first set. The Bears got within four but Ohio Christian took the set 25-18. Blickenstaff came up with six kills in the first set while Coleman had 15 digs.
 
The momentum went Tech's way early in the second set as they forced an Ohio Christian time out early going up 8-4.
 
The Trailblazers got within two but were unable to complete the comeback, falling 25-16 in the second set.
 
The third set was all Bears until the Trailblazers got within one at 13-12. Back to back kills from Blickenstaff gave the Trailblazers their first lead of the set at 18-17. She put away her 14th kill of the game for a 26-24 win.
 
The final set was a battle with 14 ties and 7 lead changes before it finally went the Trailblazers way 28-26.
 
The Trailblazers have two games left this season, beginning with their final home game of the year on Tuesday, October 31st when they take on the University of Rio Grande for Senior Night.
