Coach Simpson is originally from Harrodsburg, Kentucky, where he graduated from Mercer County Senior High School. Following graduation, he continued his basketball career at Campbellsville University, where he played for two years. He brings four years of high school coaching experience and one year of AAU coaching experience. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Adult and Higher Education.Â
He is grateful for the opportunity to lead, guide, and coach the OCU Women's Basketball Team. He is committed to bringing energy, excitement, enthusiasm, and motivation to both the sideline and the university community. His vision is to build a strong, positive culture where student-athletes can grow academically, athletically, mentally, and spiritually.
A guiding verse in his life and coaching philosophy is Phillippians 3:12-14:Â
"Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Outside of basketball, Simpson values spending time with his wife, Ceri, and his family, growing in his faith, and continuing to develop personally and professionally. He believes in maintaining a growth mindset and being a lifelong learner in all areas of life.Â
