Kissimmee, FL - The men's soccer team played Ecclesia College (#5) in the NCCAA National Championship and lost 3-1 to Ecclesia College.
The opening 45 minutes was pretty quiet. Though neither side managed to find the back of the net, OCU had its moments: several early corner kicks and a handful of shots tested Ecclesia's defense and goal keeper.
Shortly after halftime, Ecclesia struck first. OCU did not give up, just seven minutes later
Caleb Rose scored a goal off of a penalty kick, tieing the game. Unfortunately, Ecclesia managed to score two goals following Rose's shot.
While the outcome wasn't what the team hoped for in Kissimmee, this game — and the season overall — underscores real progress for OCU men's soccer. This year, the Trailblazers posted their best record in over a decade, and more importantly, secured the program's first-ever appearance in the NCCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship.
