MIDWAY, KY - The baseball team played the series of a lifetime this weekend, coming back from getting run-ruled in game one 11-0 to get two gritty wins over a solid Midway side. The three-game series determined who would advance to the RSC Championships in Chillicothe, OH next weekend, and the Trailblazers showed that they wanted it more.
After the seven-inning run-rule, the Trailblazers went through a 12 inning battle and pulled out a 7-6 win.
Karson Runk batted in
Matthew Keener for the walk-off win. The run was the first since the fifth inning.
Runk was 3-7 at the plate with one RBI and one run.Â
Keener came up with a triple along with the winning run in game two. On defense, the freshman came up with a huge putout to stop what would've been the winning run in the ninth inning.Â
Spencer Crane came up with two RBIs.
Ridge Clark pitched 5.1 innings to get the win for the Trailblazers, striking out four and allowing just three hits and no runs.
Keener's heroics continued in game three, building the momentum for the Trailblazers in the 6th inning with a two-run homer to cut the Eagles' lead to 5-3.Â
Crane followed him up with a tying two-run homer and from there on out it was all Trailblazers.Â
Carter Smith finished game three going 4-5 at the plate with one RBI and two runs.Â
Clark came up with his fifth save of the season, coming in to pitch the last 2.2 innings, striking out three and holding the Eagles scoreless.Â
The Trailblazers will head to the RSC Championships in Chillicothe, OH for the first time in school history this week. Their opening game will be on Thursday, May 2nd with their opponent and start time TBD.
