Women's Soccer Breaks Record on Senior Day

CIRCLEVILLE, OH -- Women's Soccer finished the regular season with a rematch against Great Lakes Christian. The Trailblazers traveled to Michigan earlier in the season and beat the Crusaders 1-0. On senior day, the Trailblazers won again, 1-0 to finish a historic season.

In the first half, Elizabeth Grooms found Karissa Buttelwerth who continued her hot streak by scoring upper 90. The Trailblazers absorbed a lot of pressure but kept the lead entering the second half. Despite chances to extend the lead, the Trailblazers finished the game with a win after another great defensive display.

"What a great way to end the regular season with another win under our belt," said Head Coach Beth Arroyo. "The team has worked hard this season and all the credit goes to them. They are giving the effort, they are working together defensively and offensively. I'm proud of them! As for the seniors, they will be greatly missed. They've had a tremendous impact on the season but more important, they are great people. The future is bright for each of them!"

Sr Day

The Trailblazers graduate Maria Weaver and Isabel Ruff who have played two years at Ohio Christian. Seniors Katie Walker and Syerra Metzler played at Ohio Christian for three years. Elizabeth Grooms and Karissa Buttelwerth finish a four year career at Ohio Christian. We pray blessings for the seniors and look forward to seeing each blaze the trail after college!

The Trailblazers end the regular season with the most wins in women's soccer history! The previous record was 11 wins which included post season play. This marks a historic 12 wins while rounding out the season conceding only 6 goals and scoring 58 goals.

The team awaits to find out who they will face in the NCCAA Regional Tournament.
