CIRCLEVILLE, OH - The women's soccer team opened conference play on Thursday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to Indiana University Purdue University Columbus. IUPUC ran up the score 3-0 by halftime and that added two more early in the second half.
Karissa Buttelwerth and
Elizabeth Grooms notched a goal a piece in the 79th minute to give the Trailblazers some life, though too late to complete the comeback.
Buttelwerth and Grooms led the offense with identical stat lines of seven shots, five on goal, one goal and one assist a piece.
Syerra Metzler had three shots and two on goal and
Karlie Tipton had two shots and two on goal.
Alexis Dotson played all 90 minutes in goal with five saves.
The Trailblazers take on Brescia University at home at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23rd.
