CIRCLEVILLE, OH – The men's and women's golf teams are gearing up for the spring 2023 season after a solid performance this past fall.

"I'm excited about this season," said head coach Mark Taylor. "I think we've got some good quality players. One of our goals is to have four guys in the 70s in every tournament we go to. And I think that expectation can be a reality because we've got that quality of players."

The Trailblazer's spring schedule is highlighted by their opener when they travel to Columbia, South Carolina for the CIU Invitational on Feb. 20-21.

"That should be a unique and fun experience for us," said sophomore Thatcher Wilson.

The rest of the schedule is conference play and includes the Golden Bear Classic at West Virginia Tech on April 3-4 before the RSC Tournament in Florence, IN on April 17-18.

Taylor is expecting a tough showing from the conference this season.

"I think it's always a tough matchup," said Taylor. "There's always two or three teams [in the RSC] that are going to shoot somewhere in the neighborhood of 905 in a three-day tournament. So we know in order to compete at the tournament level we've got to shoot 300-305 each and every day. I think we're quite capable of doing that."

With an eight-person men's roster with just three underclassmen, the Trailblazers will be looking to their experience to carry them through this season.

"We've got tons of golf experience there. I'm looking forward to getting to showcase that," Wilson said.

"I think we've got some great opportunities here," Taylor said. "I feel comfortable with Thatcher, but also, I know one of Noah [Lung's] goals is to win conference this year, so I would love to see Noah and Thatcher one and two in the conference. I think that potential is there."
